4th Grade

I began teaching high school in Ogden City, where I was born and grew up. I love the Wasatch front and can’t stay away. Just after getting married, we moved to Colorado as my wife finished her degree in Occupational Therapy. Once she finished we promptly moved back to begin our family. Before we got that quite right we decided to give some time and take off on an adventure. We joined the Peace Corps. It was a great opportunity for my wife and I to spend a lot of time together in a new culture. Costa Rica holds a special place in our hearts.

After our time in the Peace Corps we returned to Ogden. This time we did start a family. We now enjoy a wonderful house close to the hiking trails and parks of Ogden’s east bench with our 3 energetic children. Spending as much time with them is always my number one priority. Although life requires work, we find a lot of time to play. We hike regularly, visit the waterfall, go to the park, shoot hoops, swim and of course play soccer.

I have been involved in soccer as a player and a coach for as long as I can remember. The first team I coached was my little sister’s team. They were 14 yrs old, I had just graduated high school and they took 2nd place in a national championship tournament held in Denver Colorado. I have continued to coach ever since then. Most recently at the University of Utah as an intern and now coach two competitive youth teams. I love “the beautiful game”

Teaching the 4th grade presented a set of challenges that I didn’t find while teaching high school. Now with a few years under my belt and a great team to work with, I am getting the hang of it. I think NDPA offers such a unique learning opportunity. Many schools attempt to instruct in a foreign language, at NDPA we get it done. High standards are the norm and a caring community makes it work. Both my young children attend here, getting them up early to make the trip from Ogden is not easy, but well worth it.
