USOE Certification in progress – Highly Qualified

I am a graduate of the University of Utah, however, unlike many educators, I began my teaching career later in life. I graduated in Mass Communication/ Pre-Law. It wasn’t until my two fabulous children began attending NDPA in 2004, that my love for teaching and for this school grew. I don’t believe I would be where I am now if it weren’t for the wonderful learning environment I discovered here.

Prior to my life in the work force, I took every opportunity to travel. I studied abroad at the BYU Jerusalem Center and served an LDS mission in Rome, Italy. I speak Italian fluently, having lived much of my young life in Italy as the daughter of a naval officer. Italian helps me a great deal in my on-going effort to speak Spanish.

Following college, I worked as an assistant speech writer for Gov. Mike Leavitt. I also worked in the press office of Sen. Orrin Hatch, both here and in Washington D.C. I continued my work in politics at the Utah Republican Party where I acted as the Deputy Director.

In 1997, my husband and I welcomed a son to our family and I said good-bye to a career. In 1999, my daughter arrived and our family was finally complete. It is because of them and children like them that I love to teach. I enjoy seeing their bright faces. They make me smile everyday.
