Mrs. Fortun came to Utah in 2005 with her family and began her NDPA teaching experience in the third grade. Her husband Carlos, is a journalist in Salt Lake City. Her daughter Beby, 20 years old, who worked in the school last year as a T.A., is now working in Madrid Spain and attends WSU through the internet. Her son, Carlos, 18 years old and is currently making plans for college. Her family decided to come to Utah to have an educational experience, meet new people, and know another culture. She loves Utah, enjoys the quiet and finds the people are very warm. She feels it has been a wonderful and positive experience! |

Ms. Fortun was born and raised in Gran Canaria, Canary Island, Spain. Her home is downtown, next to Las Canteras beach. The beach is 4 kilometers long and she used to walk it daily. If you want to know her island, you just have to click on www.grancanaria.com …. and enjoy. |

Ms. Fortun is the youngest daughter of two. Her parents and older sister remain in Gran Canaria. Ms Fortun loves returning home to share her time with family and friends. As a good Spaniard, she enjoys a good lunch or dinner followed by an enjoyable conversation (round table) during the pm hours. My hobbies are reading (historical), watching good movies, swimming, communicating with loved ones in Spain, and traveling. |

Ms. Fortun graduated from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Universito. She is a gradúate in elementary education, specializing in “Spanish and Modern Languages”. She is an experienced business woman, She is reponsible for the development, production and broadcast of a educational televisión program for children for many years. In 2006-07 Ms. Fortun was named NDPA Teacher of The Year. |
