What is the Expansion?

The 2008-09 School Year we will increase our total population to 1000 students.

We will expand to include grades 7th 8th & 9th grades to our NDPA Charter.

We will add 200 additional students in grades Kindergarten thru 6th.

We are building a second building adjacent to our existing campus.

Primary Grade Facility
Grades K thru 4 will be housed in building A.

Intermediate Grade Facility
Grades 5 and 6 will be housed in the “A” wing of building B.

Junior High Grade Facility
Grades 7, 8 and 9 will be housed in the “B” wing of building B.


How many students are planned for each location?

Building “A” will have 500 students in Kindergarten thru 4th Grade.

Building “B” will have 500 students 5th thru 9th Grade.


How will the transportation and traffic issues be affected?

It is the responsibility of parents to provide transportation to and from North Davis Preparatory Academy.

Traffic flow and parking issues for both schools are being designed and reconfigured. We anticipate with the increase of total property size from 2.44 acres to 8.2 acres, the city engineers and property owners will have ample land to adequately address these issues.


What educational options will NDPA provide students?

North Davis Preparatory Academy will continue to help students achieve bi-literate proficiency by augmenting our core curriculum with Spanish language, arts, and culture through all grade levels.

For grades 7, 8 and 9, electives will be available to students in accordance with the State Core Requirements for Secondary Graduation.

Spanish will be taught at all grade levels.

What will the school year and daily schedule be?

All schedules will follow full summer break schedule. We will begin mid August and finish about the end of May.

Primary grades will continue to run from 8:25 AM to 3:00 PM

Intermediate Grades – To be announced. Schedules should be within 15 minutes at beginning and end of day of the Primary grade schedule.

Jr. High Grades – To be announced. Schedules should be within 15 minutes at beginning and end of day of the Primary grade schedule.


Will all grades be required to wear uniforms?

Yes. Uniform colors and requirements will extend thru all grade levels. View Uniform Requirements


Will there be extra-curricular activities?

Primary and Intermediate Grades – Students will continue to have after school programs offered by the parent organization for a nominal fee. (ie; Arts and Crafts, Choir, Drama or other programs as approved.)

Jr. High Grades – Jr. High Students will be able to participate in: Student Government, National Honors Society (9th Grade) Intra-mural sports, after school clubs developed as student interests dictate, and appropriate after school dances and socials.

Note: Interested students may participate in competitive after school athletic sports programs will do so with the Jr. High School District they would otherwise attend (if you are within their boundaries). Participants will be responsible to contact and follow the guidelines of their designated district.


Will students have access to “Religious or other release time”?

NDPA will allow for released time and details will be forthcoming.


Who is eligible to apply for enrollment in the Expansion?

The Expansion is an extension of the current NDPA State Charter. All siblings of current students have preference to available openings. All additional students will be accepted thru internet application and lottery in accordance with the regulations of the State Board of Education. All applicants must be prepared to meet State School Enrollment Requirements. View Admissions


Who will staff the Expansion?

North Davis Preparatory Academy is a Charter School approved by the State Board of Education. We have an elected Board of Directors who is responsible for the management of the Charter. All employees come recommended to and approved by them.

All teachers and other professional educators are properly licensed by the Utah State Office of Education and are “Highly Qualified” by the “No Child Left Behind” standards. View Faculty, View Staff

What are the employment opportunities?

Administrative Opening for Associate Principal Position beginning March 2008

North Davis Preparatory Academy will hire an Associate Principal to aid with the school expansion process. This position will begin as a part-time or stipend basis in March 2008. This administrator will work together with the school community to become familiar with our school culture, families and procedures. This individual will attend occasional meetings, school functions and serve on the Expansion Implementation Committee. The postion becomes full time in June 2008. Formal posting to accept applications will begin December 14, 2007.

Professional Educator Positions for the 2008-09 School Year

North Davis Preparatory Academy will hire approximately 20 new teachers for grades K-9. We will also hire a Guidance Counselor and a Media Specialist. We are looking for energetic and committed educators who desire an opportunity to create curriculum emphasizing interdiscipliary experiences and higher order thinking skills which integrates the Spanish language and culture. Teachers need to be self-starters and team players. Specific openings will be announced mid January of 2008.

Hourly Staff Positions for 2008-09 School Year

Additional positions such as secretary, teacher assistant, lunch workers, custodian and playground monitors will be hired. All applicants for teacher assistants must meet “No Child Left Behind” standards to be Highly Qualified. Specific openings will be announced by April 1, 2008.
